Motorola Releases the Droid X
A fierce competition between phone companies continues, and Motorola in partnership with Google and Verizon Wireless unveiled the latest Motorola innovation–the Droid X–on June 23.
This phone has perfect functionality and is very good looking. Undoubtedly, it will attract the attention of numerous customers nationwide.
John Stratton, an executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, said: “We have introduced the top-selling Android phone in the marketplace today – the DROID by Motorola. DROID X takes that commitment to another level with exclusive content, faster processing speeds, and, of course, the reliability of our network.”
The Droid X is going to be available on the market on July 15 at a special price of $199.
The phone measures 5.0in x 2.6in x 0.4in and weighs 155 grams. It has an amazingly huge, bright 4.3-inch touchscreen display with 854 x480 pixel resolution, ideal for reading.
It’s running Google’s Android 2.1 OS and has extremely quick access to all applications. You also have your choice of 65,000 apps to download from Google’s catalog. The device is going to be upgraded to Android 2.2, which is good news.
The Motorola Droid X comes with 8MP auto-focus camera capable of shooting high-definition video that you can watch immediately on a TV that supports HDMI since the phone has a jack built-in. When fully charged the talk time is up to 8 hours, so you can use often throughout the whole day for various tasks.
The phone comes with 8 GB memory onboard and 16GB microSD card which can be expanded up to 32GB.
Another interesting feature is the three microphones, one of which is noise canceling. So you can definitely take advantage of high voice quality for your caller.
The Droid X supports Wi-Fi, an FM radio, Bluetooth and GPS. The coolest feature of all is Wi-Fi hotspot option, which will allow you to turn the phone into a modem to support up to five devices for wireless Internet access. The service will tentatively cost you $20 per month.
