Choose The Right PrinterDo you want to buy a printer, but don’t know what printer to choose?

As you know, there are three main types of printers: matrix, inkjet and laser printers. Let’s see what advantages and disadvantages they have, to make it easier to decide what to buy.

  1. Matrix printers nowadays go out of use, since they are very slow and noisy, and the print quality is poor. But the cost of printing one copy is low, besides, the matrix printer can print up to three copies at the same time. That’s why the matrix printers are now being used only when it’s necessary to print lots of texts of average print quality.
  2. Inkjet printers work much faster and much more silent then the matrix printers. They don’t consume much electricity and their price is relatively low. Color inkjet printers can print images and photos of a very high quality. Besides, several inkjet printer models are able to print not only on papers, but also on films, fabrics, CDs and DVDs. But inkjet printers have a number of disadvantages as well: their consumables (cartridges, for example) are expensive, and the cost of one copy is  high. Besides, the printings of an inkjet printer are usually vulnerable to water and sunlight, especially if they are not printed on the headed paper.
  3. Laser printers are quite silent, work really fast and can print a big number of copies. Nothing will happen to the prints if they get wet, and they don’t have any problem with the sunlight too. Besides, the cost of one copy is much lower than the cost of an inkjet printer’s print. Perhaps the only disadvantage of a laser printer is it’s price, since it’s more expensive than matrix and inkjet printers, especially the color ones. These are very expensive especially for individual use.

Now you know about the main advantages and disadvantages of the three types of printers. Before buying a printer, you have to determine what exactly you are going to print.

If you need a printer for a small amount of chromatic printing (pictures, photos, illustrated document and so on), then an inkjet printer is your best choice. If you need to print many copies of some texts for which the quality of the copies isn’t important, you can buy a matrix printer. And if you need to print lots of texts (150 pages and more) of a good quality, then your choice is a laser printer.

Those, who need lots of texts and colorful pictures at the same time, can consider buying both a laser black and white printer and a color inkjet: fortunately, their price isn’t very high nowadays, and the two printers will definitely be able to meet all your requirements.
