A Human NeededThere are situations in your life, in which you need immediate reaction and help, and sometimes technologies obstacle the promptness of actions, which could be fulfilled in case the actions were done by a human being and not a machine.

Imagine it is late at night, you are hurt and need first-aid, you call the doctor and there – you are met by a voice-mail recording “Please tell your name and the issue you are having after the beep, we will return you a call…” I would throw the telephone out of the window!

This battle between technological and human resources always arouses ethical problems. Of course, simple voice-mail is a minor problem compared to the ethical problems of for example euthanasia.

Those who for example own companies, who have something to do with customer service, can make steps towards inserting a little bit more “humanity” in the communication between the parties (company–consumer).

Especially in such branches of entrepreneurship like doctor services the presence of human mediators between the doctor and the patient are crucial. There are companies which provide outsourced call centers. In this case when you call, let us take, a doctor, the virtual receptionist from Doctors answering service takes the call, helps you to orientate what to do and in case of urgency connects you straight to the doctor.

Who will understand you better – a machine or a human being? So if you are capable of using this possibility and advantage, do it, otherwise we are day by day losing our world. Do we want it to become a world of machines? I bet not.
